Mile-A-Minute Invasive Weed

Because this vine has the potential to outgrow and outcompete many of our native plants, it is important that we work to get it under control. In areas with small numbers of this plant, we encourage people to pull it, preferably before it goes to seed. A beneficial insect has been released in areas with a high MAM vine population as part of a study being conducted by the University of Connecticut, with assistance from the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station and funding provided by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

The University of Connecticut maintains a website with information and resources regarding this weed pest as well, including a map indicating the towns this weed has been located in, as well as pdf versions of the informational cards, flyer, poster and factsheets.
