Senior Center

The Bethel Senior Center is partially opened at this time. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic we are opened offering limited programs with limited participants. All programs require participants to wear a mask, stay socially distanced, pay with exact change, and make a reservation in advance. We are following the Governor's guidelines to keep everyone safe and healthy. We are happy to announce that the Bethel Senior Center has virtual programs online for your enjoyment and participation.  We are also happy to announce that the van service is up and running. Please call the Bethel Senior Center to make an appointment at least 24 hours in advance.

FLU CLINICS: Provided by the Bethel Visiting Nurse Association, will be held as follows: Community Flu Clinic - Sept. 26, Saturday, 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Stony Hill Firehouse (senior citizens are encouraged to come the first two hours to avoid the crowds);  Community Flu Clinic - Wed., 9/7, held at the Berry School gym from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.                                                                                                                                                                                         Bethel Senior Center Flu Clinic  - Tuesday, 10/20, 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.; held in the BSC cafeteria. The only entrance will be through the side door of the BSC that faces the CVS store. Each participant will have a health screening prior to entering the building. If you are experiencing any cold or flu symptoms please stay home and do not attend the flu clinic.  Please be sure to have your insurance information with you.                                                                                

 All parties and travel are cancelled for 2020.

 

The Bethel Senior Center VAN!  Appointments are being taken. Please call the office to make an appointment.

The van can pick you up at your home or local senior living community and drive you to where you would like to go (including medical appointments, shopping, social trips, etc...) in the surrounding towns: Bethel, Danbury, Brookfield.

Our Mission

Since 1977 our community's mature citizen, 50 years and older, can find a multipurpose facility at the Bethel Senior Center. It is our mission to provide opportunities for friendship, physical, intellectual, cultural,and social activities; to motivate individual and group participation; to encourage positive attitudes and preserve individual dignity and respect for all older adults.

The Bethel Senior Center offers many different activities and classes:

Exercise: Chair Yoga, Circuit Training, Line Dancing, Total Wellness, Square Dancing, Yoga, Zumba 

Creative Classes: Art, Crafts, Crocheting, Ceramics, Creative Writing, Knitting, Scrapbooking, Painting, Quilting, Writing Memoirs 

Special Interest: Bible Study, Book Club, Chorus, Computer Class, Free Movie Mondays, Genealogy, Italian Class, Information Technology, Lectures, Lunch and Learn Programs.

Games: Bingo, Board Games, Bridge, Canasta, Mah Jong, Puzzle Making, Rummy.

Parties & Travel: Holiday Parties (Superbowl, Chinese New Year, MardiGras, Victorian Tea, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Summer Barbecue, Grandparents Day, Halloween, Veteran's Day Breakfast, Holiday Shoppe, Holiday Party; Day and Extended Trips.

Services: Elderly Information Service and Assistance, Blood Pressure Clinic, Health Awareness, and Information Seminars, Health Insurance Counseling, Holiday Shoppe,  Lunch everyday including a nutrition cafe meal on Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday (please call for information).
