Holiday Guidance Communication

General Guidance

  • Wear a mask
  • Get your flu shot
  • Limit attendance at events
  • Wash hands frequently
  • Maintain social distance of 6 feet with those outside of your household
  • Monitor your health for potential symptoms

    Attending In-Person Holiday Celebrations

  • Follow all general guidance
  • Bring your own food and drinks
  • Avoid close conversations, shouting and singing as they can spread more droplets
  • Stay home if you are sick, have been exposed to or have been near someone who has been exposed to COVID-19, or are awaiting test results
  • Limit the number of guests
  • Have extra PPE available and hand sanitizer
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces like door handles, countertops, bathroom sinks
  • Avoid food preparation areas
  • Consider getting tests 72 hours before celebration
  • Avoid contact with people outside of your household for 14 days before gathering

    Safer Celebration Alternatives

  • Host a virtual celebration
  • Decorate for the holiday season
  • Attend virtual worship services
  • Take a drive to see holiday lights around town

  • The best way to stop the spread of Covid-19 is to stay at home
  • Host activities with people in your household
  • Don’t leave if you are sick or high-risk for severe illness

    Avoid Travel

  • Travel may increase your change of spreading or contracting COVID-19
  • If you travel, follow all general guidance
  • Check travel restrictions on the State of CT website
  • Get tested before and after travel
  • Avoid touching your facemask, nose, mouth, and eyes while on public transportation
  • Pack food and limit the number of stops on a trip
